4 Innovations That Could Turn Refugees From Burdens Into Assets—And Save Lives | Co.Exist | ideas + impact

I don’t subscribe to the idea that allowing millions of Middle East refugees/migrants into Europe is sustainable. However, whatever the status of the people we accept, there should be a better way of handling the process, like issuing Nansen passports (travel documents issued to stateless persons). Allowing refugees in the Middle East to at least have some sort of work or economic activity. For those admitted into Europe or other areas, matching of skills with locations and employers ready to provide access and jobs. Last but not least, with the help of Nansen passports, allow refugees to use public transport like trains or ferry services, instead of fattening criminal gangs and risking their lives in the process, while collapsing the economy of transit areas like the Greek islands.
