Time to confine accountants and micro-managers to the jobs they deserve in the civil service and make space for people with ideas and vision. Enough failed politicians and junior 2nd rate ministers, time for statesmen with vision and authority. Every public administration is mind-bogglingly complex and mind-bendingly boring and the EU is no exception, but all people see of Europe are the minutiae of its functioning and every unimportant detail of its routine. While missing the forest for the tree, mistaking straight bananas for the great ideas which begat Europe and which are sorely needed to move both the EU and its members (those willing to stay and move forward) into the next stage.

The Brussels attacks may be the last step toward the dissolution of the dream of Continental integration.
